Serenity
------Contains spoilers------
Oh Joss, how you wound me.
As a long time Joss Whedon fan, I went to see Serenity on Friday night with my friends. It was so good, and I loved it. I was literally on the edge of my seat. I laughed, I cried, I screamed in fear (and then denied that I did to the 4-year-old sitting beside me).
Now, I know Joss, and how he loves to break our hearts. So I knew someone was going to die. When I didn't see Book on the ship, I thought "Okay, here we go, we're losing Book." But still, when it happened, I was suprised. No! Not Book! But his corn rows are so cool! And how does he know all this stuff? What WAS he before he was a Shepard, and will we ever know?
And then.. Wash. *moment of silence*
I actually said "NOooooooOOOOO!" Joss. Why do you take the ones that wound us the most? Because you are a fiend. A FIEND! And I love every second and want to have your babies!
It was good to see my Firefly pals again. Mal giving orders on his boat, Jayne's attitude, River's riddles, Simon's politeness, Kaylee's SHEER AWESOMENESS, Inara's doe eyes, Zoe's military gal attitude (even in the face of grief), Book's wisdom, Wash's humor... I missed it, and hope I see it on the big screen again or the buzz makes them pick up the show.
I say this to people who haven't seen Firefly and they call me a blashpemer, but for those that have, I say "If Firefly would have lasted, it would have surpassed Buffy as my favorite show hands down."
It didn't even have to last. Joss's way of making us love his characters has been perfected in Firefly. I can't wait to see what he does next.
