AAA

I got AAA back in January when I was taking a road trip to Virginia. I thought it was the "adult" thing to do, and also it would make my sister feel better. I didn't use it at all during that trip, thankfully.

In the past month, I've used it three times.

The first time was the day I ran out of gas on my way to pick up breakfast on a Sunday morning. I had Murphy in the car with me because we'd just gotten back from our walk. I saw that the gage was on empty so I decided to swing by the Shell station first. Alas, I didn't make it. The car sputtered out and died on me about 3 blocks from my house. A nice guy helped me push it to the side of the road. I walked Murphy home, got my cell phone, and called AAA. They came out, filled the car with gas, and badda-boom, it started right back up.

I apologized to the guy for being a retard. I can't believe I ran out of gas. That has NEVER happened to me before!

The 2nd time was last week. I was on the phone, which I usually don't do while I'm driving, when I pulled up to the parking lot where I get my nails done. I got out and left the keys on my seat. I immediately panicked and told the girls I was going to need to borrow one of their husbands. But then I remembered I had AAA! Wheee! I called them, and a guy came out to the nail salon. I told him on the phone that I was getting a pedicure but if he came in to let me know he was there, I'd walk him out to the car regardless.

When he got there, he came inside and asked me which car was mine. He went out, got my keys out, and brought them back to me. How is THAT for service? (I asked him if he wanted to get his feet done, but he declined.)

Today I was driving to work, and not even a block from my house, my car sputtered and died. It wouldn't turn over, so I ended up stuck at a stop sign. I called AAA and they came out and towed my car to my mechanic. I don't know what I'm in for with my car (oh please baby Jesus, don't let it be too painful) but I do know that I am smitten with AAA.

I also wonder at what point they're gonna get the call at Rainbow Exxon (the AAA go-to guys around these parts) and go "Her? AGAIN??" But I guess I'll cross that bridge when they tow me over it.

I first read this as "when they throw me over it." It's funny either way. :)
