Sugar High

Work let us off on Friday, whoo-hoooo! I hung out with Angie and Miss Lyla all afternoon and went to see Grindhouse on Friday night with some Fleegans.

It was awesome. I can't say enough about it. No one at work saw it so I am alone in the giddy aftermath of seeing a fun movie. Though, my boss did raise his leg in the air and mimic a machine gun leg? And that, friends, was priceless.

I still haven't done my state taxes. I KNOW! I'm starting to get worried. Liz is helping me, or else I'd have gotten NOTHING done yet. Anyone know how to file an extension for state taxes?

I'm eating Laffy Taffy, and I'm telling you, the jokes were WAY funnier when I was a kid. And that reminds me to point out how easily I get distracted from my taxes. I'm being distracted by candy at this point. I think that makes me 3. (oooh, tootsie rolls!)

On Saturday I didn't do anything. I went to the convenient store. I boiled some eggs for deviled eggs the next day. I even got kinda pissed about it, too. Cause I had to go at LEAST 4 blocks in an air-conditioned car for those eggs, and then I had to FILL A POT WITH WATER and put eggs in it to boil. The worst part is, I had to remember I had eggs boiling. Which, if you're me? Is really hard.

How long does it take to boil a fucking egg anyway? Does anybody really know the answer to that question?

On Sunday I went to church. I could not concentrate. I kept thinking about Vin Diesel. Seriously. I kept trying really hard to listen and concentrate about our Lord Jesus who died for my sins? Yeah.. then I'd just be like "Mmm, Vin Diesel.." Finally I decided there was no way I could take communion, cause I was totally dissing Jesus for Vin Diesel. And that wasn't very spiritual of me, even though I was trying to think Jesus-y thoughts.

Then this guy got up and read this sermon and it was all about how even if we think we've screwed up, we should still take part in communion, and the importance of it. I thought it was kinda cool cause I'd just been spending all my thought time apologizing to God because I couldn't pay attention. So, I did take communion. I haven't done that in a really long time, because I never feel like I'm worthy enough to do so. I guess maybe none of us are? Maybe that's the whole point.

I'm just sharing that because I KNOW I can't be the only one who drifts off during church thinking about .. well maybe not Vin Diesel, but other stuff.

I had lunch with my dad and sister after that, and then we watched Devil's Advocate on TNT, cause that is SO the thing to watch after you celebrate Jesus's resurrection. We saw a commercial for this plush Spiderman who sang "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and all these kids were running around all "Yay, Spiderman!" and I said:

Me: That's not right.
Suzie: Why?
Me: Cause Spidey is badass, and A. he shouldn't be plush, and B. shouldn't be singing Itsy Bitsy SPIDER.
Dad: *laughs*
Suzie: But Spiderman was a baby Spiderman once
Me: No he wasn't, when he was a baby he wasn't Spiderman yet.
Suzie: Oh...
Dad: She makes a good point, doesn't she?

Indeed, Father. Indeed.

Put eggs in pot and cover with an inch + or so of water. Use smallest pot possible for amount of eggs- you don't want them rolling around too much and cracking. Bring water to full rolling boil. Cover with lid and turn off heat. In exactly 17 minutes, move eggs to ice water bath to stop the cooking. Perfect eggs every time.

Filing an extention on taxes isn't hard (Zach knows how to do it, not me!) but if you're getting money back, you might as well do them.

I'm usually distracted by candy, too - tomorrow they're doing the glucose test to determine if I have gestational diabetes - no candy today, and of course I have a box of marshmallow peeps at home!)

I think the best part of church Sunday was just the feeling of family - we're all screwed up, we may not know each other well, but we're still family and our Dad loves all of us, and wants us to come feast with Him. So, I'm glad you were there, Cookie. Even if we didn't get to say hi!

PS - I've heard the same method for the eggs, but only cooking for 15 minutes. I don't think 2 minutes or so will help.

I never get boiled eggs right. NEVER. They're always bright yellow in the middle and sometimes they're still gooey.

I found an extension form and it's really short and simple, but also it looks like you have to pay interest. Poop heads.

From the wise one...

Form 4868 on the irs’ website (www.irs.gov)

It’s actually the first thing on the website. Bad news is…you’re supposed to pay the amount of tax you owe when you mail your extension…not that anybody ever does. They just pay the interest and penalties when they finish their taxes.

15 minutes on an electric stove that retains heat...maybe. This is for a gas top. Cookie should have an egg off. Hee. Then, I, the unknown egg champion who lives in mystery, shall be victorious.
Haaahaaaahaaaaahaaaaa (my evil laughter)
