I got to go see Margaret Cho on Saturday night. It was amazing.

My friend Kellie has started going to all these concerts, and she's gotten to meet all sorts of cool bands because she just stopped saying "I wish I could go" and started GOING. So, when I was asked to go see Margaret Cho, I said yes. Life is too short to stay home. Unless Jake Gyllenhaal is in your bed, then it's okay.

When I was a kid, I followed bands and actors just like anyone else, but my real love was reserved for comics. I never missed MTV's Half Hour Comedy Hour, or Stand-Up Spotlight on VH1. I memorized bits like they were baseball stats, and I knew everybody. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to watch like I used to when I was a kid, but I try to keep up the best I can.

Getting to see Margaret Cho was .... beyond awesome. Not only was she someone I followed when I was younger, she'd totally offended me as a kid, and I'd liked it. Thank God for people that offended me, or else I'd never be sure of what I really believed and why I believed it.

She came out fast & furious, announcing that she'd just gotten a "G shot" and that the reason for that was that she had trouble having an orgasm from sex. She paused for a moment and asked if she'd gone too fast, and YES she had, but no one wanted her to stop.

The whole show shocked me into the kind of helpless laughter that makes your face hurt afterwards. She's my hero. Not because of what she says, but because she is UNAFRAID to say it.
