I Knowed It's True

Last night at Girl's Night we watched The Dancing Outlaw starring Mr. Jesco White himself. This morning, when I woke up, my thoughts went in this order:

Oh GOD. Morning.
I have to go to the chiropractor, shit. Money robbing back crackers.

And then, as if almost in the room with me, Jesco's voice:

~if you wanna get to hea-ven, you gotta raise a little heeeell~

So while I laid there waking up, I debated with myself about this phrase from (the Miracle Woman herself) Jesco White's mama, about D. Ray White, Jesco's father. (who was the world-wide mountain daincer, in case you didn't know)

"He knowed 52 more steps than any tap daincer in the whole world."

I could debate with her. How does she know? Did they count? Did they have some sort of contest? Did all the mountain/tap daincer's in all the wide world mail in little slips of paper with their number of known steps somewhere (I want to say .. Denver) and a group of men in shrouded robes (not white ones, this is Denver not West Virginia) hold a top-secret meeting and then decare D. Ray White of Boone County, West Virgina the winner?

I could ask all those questions, but this is what I'm stuck on.

Why 52?

What made her say that? What made her choose THAT number?

49? Not enough.
50? No, that'll seem like I'm making it up.
51? 5+1=6 DEVIL, DEVIL NUMBER!

52? Perfect.
