The 80's Strikes Back

When are we going to get fun 80's genre-type flicks back? Huh? Those are so much fun, can we please have those again? Angie and I lived off of them when we were in Jr. High and High School. We never got tired of them. Never! We'd walk a mile just to rent a movie we'd seen 20 times back before we could drive. Between Angie and my sister I think I've seen them all. Here are some of our favorites:

Pretty in Pink - Molly Ringwald. A dress. The prom. My geek crush on Duckie knows no boundaries.

Breakfast Club - I don't know what to say about this one, I just love it so much. I heart Judd Nelson in this movie.

Sixteen Candles - No more yanky my wanky, the Donger is tired! Do I need to say any more? I didn't think so.

Better Off Dead - And so began my love of John Cusack. Very quirky.

Class - Andrew McCarthy, Rob Lowe, an all-boys school, and a scandalous affair. It's not like what it sounds like, perv.

The Sure Thing - My love for The Cusack grows and blossoms. I really fucking love this movie.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High - I saw this one on tv so many times that I didn't realize what he was doing in the bathroom until years later when I rented it.

The Last American Virgin - I saw this when I was really innocent and so Angie had to explain about half of what was going on. I was fascinated.

Some Kind of Wonderful - Rich girl, poor boy, and with some fun characters. I've seen this one so many times I should be stopped. My sister and I sing the "Miss Amanda Jones" song still to this day, and the kiss (you'll know which one) is so sweet that my bitter heart still gets kinda gooey.

Risky Business - "Sometimes you just gotta say, what the fuck?" True that. A tribute to this movie called "Girl Next Door" does the whole concept so much better. And God is it funny.

Say Anything - The Cusack's power over me is now complete. I would be his slave. I love this movie so much it's EMBARRASSING.

Footloose - Is it bad that Angie still calls me to alert me when this is on television? I fucking LOVE this movie. Kevin Bacon is dreamy.

St. Elmo's Fire - 80's genre graduates from college.

Weird Science - Nerds! Science experiments! Supermodels! Blues bars! Sports cars! Robert Downey, Jr!

One Crazy Summer - Again, The Cusack. Also, Demi Moore back when she Ashton's age.

And finally...

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Oh Ferris.. your wacky hijinks still amuse me.
