Bushel and a Blog

I haven't been able to update for a few days because I've been so busy at work. Hopefully that is over with so I can go back to conducting all my personal business while getting paid. Hee!

First off, the reason why I love my job... For those of you that don't know, I am a "negotiator." No shit! I think my official title is something like "Post Auction Coodinator" but around here we just call it "Negotiator" so I feel like I should be in some movie starring Samuel L. Jackson. After an auction is over, I can take post-auction bids and I present them to the seller to see if they will accept so we can sell the house. They counter. The buyer counters. Eventually, when it's good, a deal is made. In a few cases, there are some houses that a lot of people want, so they all call me and tell me their life story to try to get me on their side. It often works.. cause HELLO I'm such a softie.

But I digress. The best part of my job is probably when someone wins a house they've been bidding on and I have to call and tell them. Mainly they are calls to investors that seem glad but not ecstatic. Sometimes it's people who are buying the house to actually live in themselves. And that? Is fun.

Yesterday I called a woman, and the conversation went something like this:

Hello?

Hi, may I speak to Vanessa?

This is Vanessa.

Hi Vanessa! This is Cookie from *insert name of company here*, how are you?

I'm good, Cookie. How are you? (aren't we polite?)

I'm fine, I was just calling to tell you that the seller got back to me today and accepted your bid. You won the house!

I did?

Yes ma'am, you sure did. Congratulations!

Oh Lord Jesus.

I'm gonna send you an email, and I need you to respond to that questionnaire attached to it so we can start the contract process.

Okay. I'm so excited that I don't even know if I heard what you just said.

Hahahaha, okay Vanessa, that's okay.

Can I call you back?

Sure you can, my extension is 666. (it's not really but wouldn't that be cool?)

Okay. I'll call you back as soon as I finish THANKING THE LORD!! *click*

Don't you love Vanessa? I did.

In other news, I saw Quills last night and I know I'm years late but this movie owns. I recommend it to anyone that is me. Yay! Marquis de Sade! I also rented "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" but I haven't watched it yet. I've had about 5 people tell me (loudly) that I NEED to see this movie. I'll let you know how it goes.

Seacrest out!
