Movies

I hid on my couch for most of the weekend because lo, it was Mother's Day weekend. This means I watched a lot, and I mean a LOT of movies. I figured I would share my reviews because the world hinges on what I think. (just let me believe it, it's fun for me and it doesn't hurt anyone!)

Must Love Dogs - Eh. But John Cusack wears a Ramones t-shirt and a black trench coat. He rambles and says adorable things. I love him. He's kind of like a grown up Lloyd Dobler. It's cute enough, but I wouldn't waste my money on renting it. It'll play on the weekends on TBS soon enough.

Party Monster - Leslie recommended this one and after an iffy 10 minutes I fell deeply in love with Seth Green's character, James St. James. He is so gay, and SO FABULOUS. There were some scenes I rewound two or three times. If it wasn't also terribly sad with the drug addiction and the murdering, I'd recommend it to anyone. I liked it so much I'm going to buy it.

There is a scene where James teaches Michael (Macaulay Culkin) how to be fabulous and work a room at a party that I could watch about 50 gadzookamillion times and I'm pretty sure I would clap and declare my love with each viewing. Also, this little scene:

Michael: You are the Yoda to my Luke.
James: Oh, excuse me, you are the Paula Abdul to my Janet Jackson.
Michael: That's good, right?
James: *rolls eyes*
Michael: We're two peas in a pod, James.
James: I pity the pod.
Michael: Did I ever tell you about my first boyfriend in junior high?
James: No, but I fear you're about to. *rolls eyes* Cue the music!

Forget Vin Diesel, all my yearning will now be reserved for Seth Green, and Seth Green alone. (Vin! Call me!)

The Family Stone - Everybody already knows this is a good movie, right? Here's a tip, don't watch it on Mother's Day if your mom has passed away. Damn.

However, to cheer myself up I had lunch with my sister and my father today over at The Choice.

Dad: I bought some of those field peas with snaps over at Walmart. You know, in can? They have the green beans in 'em?

Us: *nod*

Dad: Well, it had more green beans than field peas!

Me: Oh nos.

Dad: If I wanted green beans, I would have bought green beans, I wanted field peas with green beans. I'm gonna tell them about it next time I go.

Me & Suzie: *SMIRK*

Dad: Probably got 'em from Mexico.

Suzie: Make sure you tell them that theory, too.

Me: Poor cashiers.

Dad: I'm just sayin.

Suzie: Then make sure you tell them all your views in immagration.

Dad: Hell, if I lived in Mexico I'd try to sneak across the border, too.

I love my dad.
